FBI Searches Home of Dimitri Simes, Trump 2016 Adviser and Russian TV Host

FBI agents raided the Virginia home of Dimitri Simes, a policy analyst and author, who advised Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign and currently hosts a show on Russia’s state-run Channel One.

The search began on August 13, while Simes was out of the country. Simes, mentioned over 100 times in the 2019 Mueller report on Russian interference in the 2016 election, expressed surprise and concern, stating he was unaware of any investigation against him.

In an interview with Russian media, Simes suggested the raid was an attempt to intimidate him and prevent his return to the U.S. Simes has lived in the U.S. since 1973 and has held various influential roles, including advising former President Richard Nixon.
